“This CD from children’s entertainers YellowKat is full of energetic fun music for pre-schooler playtime. The upbeat songs are performed using piano, percussion and vocals. Children are prompted to sing along by the kids’ voices that echo the main vocals on the tracks such as ‘Buzzy Bee’ and ‘Shake a Rattle’.”

“YellowKat releases NEW CD

You and your children won’t be able to stop yourself singing along to the new YellowKat CD. The composer of the YellowKat songs, Sonia Hardie, is a mum herself and has written the songs whilst spending time with her two young boys.

The result is natural, catchy tunes that are instantly easy for children to sing, move and laugh along with. SING IN MY SINGLET is YellowKats second CD for children.

There are great songs such as “Oh Oh, its YellowKat” and ‘Pig on the Table’.

““Uh oh, it’s YellowKat”. Sonia Hardie and her team is back again with another quirky fun CD for preschoolers. Following on the success of Clap Your Hands, Sonia has come together with rock keyboardist Anton Koritni, and performer Gabrielle Thompson to come up with a slightly more polished sound without losing any of the intimacy or accessibility of the first CD. The new CD has 16 songs and two Karaoke tracks for children to do their own singing with. As with Clap Your Hands the songs are all original, and encourage children to join in singing, dancing, and doing actions like playing air instruments and doing body movements. There’s plenty of variation in the instruments used, children joining in, and even a bit of cabaret. It’s all kid friendly, lighthearted, and good fun. This new CD also features the YellowKat character (played by Gabrielle Thompson) as a regular character.

Many of the songs involve word play, including the title song that involves jogging in joggers, dressing up in dress up, jumping in a jumper, and of course singing in the singlet. Other songs involve animals and insects in all sorts of situations, including ones they shouldn’t be in (“Pig on the Table”, “Cow”), fairytale switches (“Froggy” – featuring a frog that is tired of being kissed, “Muddled up mixed up”), doing things that are strange (“Have You Ever”), music (“Shake a Rattle”), and doing the sorts of things that young children do every day like cuddling a parent, having a bath, playing with blocks or going to bed. (“Kisses”, “Bathtime”, “500 Blocks”, “I Can See”, “Sleepy Me”). All of the songs were written by Sonia Hardie, and the CD also includes a reworked version of the title song from the last CD “Clap Your Hands”. There’s a nice variation between fast songs and slow ones, and although there is plenty to keep children engaged and moving, it never gets too crazy.

Every song on the CD is catchy and easily learned, and children will be singing and shaking along right from the first listening. This is definitely not music for older children, who will balk at the simplicity and sweetness (though there’s enough of a twist in every song to keep adults from cringing). Younger children from about 8 months to about 5 or 6 years will love it. The interactive nature of the CD makes it perfect for children’s’ groups like Playgroup or birthday parties/get togethers. Sing in my Singlet is packaged in an eco-friendly cardboard case, and the team does regular concerts, including a free one on the 22nd of April at the Parkside Shopping Centre at Miranda, Sydney.”
