With two video clips in pre-production, I am finding myself flicking between the amazing puppet song and dance production for Penelope’s Song (think Muppet style, 1920’s flapper style dance – it’s too much fun!!) and a whiteboard drawing style for The Waiting Song.
The Waiting Song
I have a great new little program that I am using for The Waiting Song. It is looking fab with kids hands coming across the screen drawing clocks, and road crossings, and shopping trolleys. I am really amazed how much you can do with a simple video editor. This is being worked on with Easy Sketch Pro, and I’m very happy with the results so far. Easy enough to use, with a professional result. I have found it a hard song to do, as I desperately want images to appear in time with the clocks ticking, and the beat of the song, so I find myself moving things in micro-seconds to get it right. After all the effort Anton put into getting those clocks to tick and tock in time it would be just plain annoying to not have the animation match the timing! Now to just get the right shots of a child crossing the road with a Mum and a child in a shopping trolley and it will be ready to go.
Penelope’s Song is proving a little more time consuming. With much to learn on getting her to dance correctly on screen, and with the hundreds of little props I keep wanting to add, I am having some great in depth conversations (…. and some rather silly fun conversations…) with my co-writer. It is hard to balance between wanting the best result possible and what we can afford. We are going to have to have 2 people operating her on screen, so that will be something new for us as we play a weird version of Twister to try and keep out of the shots!! Hope to share a little photo of pre-production soon with you.
